Frequently Asked Questions
Choosing the right lawyer is an important and difficult task, especially in times of personal tragedy. Below are some answers to the questions we hear most often. We hope these answers help you, but if the answer to your particular question doesn’t appear below, give us a call. We’re happy to speak to you today about your legal needs.
Q: What types of cases does this law office handle?
We handle any cases involving automobile collisions, tractor-truck collisions, wrongful death claims, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, paralysis injuries, oil-field accidents, workplace injuries, slip and fall accidents, electric and burn injuries, defective products, animal attacks and any wrongful death claims.
Q: How do I go about hiring a lawyer for my case?
Please give us a call today. We will promptly arrange an appointment to talk about your case without any obligation. Mr. Pettiet will personally sit down with you and go over the facts of your case as briefly or as in-depth as you’d like. After the meeting, you and Mr. Pettiet will decide together whether BMP Law firm is right for you.
Q: How much will it cost?
The bottom line is that we will work with you. Typically, we handle personal injury matters on a contingency basis. That means we only collect a fee upon a successful result in our case. In other words, if don’t collect money, there is no fee. Other cases may have a fee structure based on difficulty and other factors.
Q: How long until I get some kind of recovery?
Unfortunately, there’s no easy answer to that question. Every case is different. Some cases have relatively simple facts. Often such cases are easy to wrap up soon after the doctor releases the client. Other cases are more complicated and take more time. Of course, whether the insurance company feels it should settle and for how much influences how long a possible recovery will take. That’s why it’s important for your lawyer to understand the different tactics an insurance company will use.
Q: What is a fair amount for my settlement?
What’s fair in your case involves many different factors that we will discuss with you. Bradley Pettiet has the experience in personal injury cases and insurance settlements to know how to evaluate those factors.
Q: How will my I know how my case is proceeding?
We will keep you informed about any and all developments in your case. You will also have critical say in the preparation of your case and will be kept informed of its status. All clients are encouraged to contact us directly whenever they need an update. From time to time, our office will send you information in regards to your case status.
Q: Will my case be settled without my approval?
Absolutely not. Whether and for how much to settle is your decision. Our job is to advise you in the process and ensure the offers you recieve are fair.
